Travel

1. How do I book my trip to Kraków?

Once your Liaison from the host Faculty confirms that you have been accepted for the program and you register as a VP using the Registration Form, you will receive a message from the JU International Relations Office with the instructions to contact WhyNotTravel, a travel agency cooperating with the University to book your flight/train or bus tickets. Once the chosen connection has been accepted by the Internationalisation Committee overseeing the Visiting Professors Program, the tickets will be purchased for you, and details sent to the e-mail address you provide to the travel agent.

2. Can I come to Kraków with a companion?

Yes.

3. Can WhyNotTravel book tickets for my companion as well?

Yes, however, you will need to cover the cost of your companion's ticket.

4. Can I travel business class?

Yes, however, the University cannot cover the cost of this type of ticket.

5. I already purchased a ticket. What now?

You can get a refund of the cost provided that the ticket is an economy class. To receive the refund, you need to provide the following: boarding passes, receipt for the ticket and the Refund Claim Form (available for download in the section: "FORMS").

6. Can I travel to Kraków by car?

Yes. The cost of the travel will be reimbursed to you on the basis of the Refund Claim Form (available for download in the section: "FORMS").

Accommodation

1. Where will I stay?

The Jagiellonian University rents 8 apartments in the city for the use of the Visiting Professors. These are assigned to the Guests accepted to partake in the program by the Internationalisation Committee. Each of the apartments is a one-bedroom apartment with a double bed and a living room with kitchenette. WiFi provided. No cleaning service. No smoking. No pets.

2. Can I stay somewhere else?

Yes, however, the cost of such stay will not be covered by the University.

3. Can I have someone else staying in the apartment with me?

Yes, however, you need to bear in mind the type of apartments that are available.

4. Is there WIFI in the flat?

Yes, WIFI is available in all the flats, in which the Visiting Professors are lodged.

5. What is the flat equipped with?

Each of the flats is fully furnished and equipped. Bedding, towels, kitchenware, cleaning utensils are provided.

Other

1. Is it possible to divide my stay into several periods?

Single stays are preferred, but in special circumstances stays can be divided into two shorter periods. This needs to be communicated to the Internationalisation Committee at the application stage.

1. Where from do I collect the keys to the Visiting Professor's apartment? 

The keys can be collected from the International Visitors’ Office (ul. Czapskich 4, room no. 13, Monday through Friday,  7:30 am – 15:30 pm). The keys can also be made available at the reception desk of the building at ul. Czapskich 4 at any other time outside the regular business hours. This needs to be arranged beforehand with the International Visitors’ Office.

2. What kind of contract does the Faculty need to sign with the Visiting Professor.
